Singapore to Host The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Championship 2014-2018

Singapore has been selected to host WTA Championship from 2014-2018. it is considered as the “Fifth” Gland Slam among the Tennis Players. This year, Turkish city of Istanbul will be hosting this event for the final time before Singapore is handled this prestige role.

World top eight individual and team will be converting to Singapore to compete for the record prize money of $6.5m (SGD  8.2m). This event is made possible with the support of the Singapore Sports Council and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). With their help, World Sport Group’s (WSG) managed to secure the hosting right of this competitions for the next 4 years.

With the WTA Championship,  Singapore has established itself as one of the contender in organising world international competitions. In 2008, the inaugural Formula one made it’s debut, it was followed closely by the HSBC Women’s Champions part of women’s professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour. In 2008, Singapore initiated the 1st ever Asian Youth Game and in 2010, Singapore was awarded the 1st Youth Olympic Game in the modern history. Coming 2015, Singapore will be hosting the South-East-Asian Games after the completion of the 1 billion Sports Hub at Kallang Park.
